The smartphone market has been slowly getting rid of 3.5mm headphone jack for the past 2 years or so, and I believe we are on our way to be totally wireless. Getting ready for that future might be more expensive than we want - either wireless charging or wireless headphones.
When you're on-the-go you probably prefer the in-ear headphones: pocketable and mostly comfortable for long listening.
The Oneplus Wireless Bullets are Oneplus first attempt at wireless headphones, and I won't lie - there are some things that I would change, but the overall package is very appealing. The price is relatively cheap as MSRP (Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price) coming at 69$.
PROs
Comfortable, with a variety of different wings and eartips to mix and match every ear-size.
OK sound quality, with good volume, good highs and mids... almost no bass though.
Good battery life - 8 hours of listening with moderate volume, and quick charge for up to 5 hours of listening with only 10 minutes of charge from 0% of battery.
Direct USB-C charging input - no adapters needed, in case your smartphone has that input - just one wire to carry with you!
Magnets makes the world better! You can stick the earbuds together to let them hang while you're not listening - it also turns them off when you do that.
Support for aptxHD bluetooth codec for better music quality.
That price! 69$ is cheap for what you get.
They don't stick out, look relatively discrete in the ear.
The remote has the regular 3 buttons: volume +/- and play/pause.
CONs
If you don't get the perfect fit for your ear - it might get uncomfortable after a while.
The headphones wire seems very thin, I really hope in time it won't brick the headphones by stop music to one of the earbuds.
At the beginning, at small spaces like elevators, the music would stutter several times. But it seems to stop somehow... The bluetooth ghost perhaps?
Sound isolation isn't good, you can clearly hear your surrounding - and if you're on a train, even high volume won't drown that noise.
The remote buttons are not tactile enough, and it's hard to find them or detect which one you click.
Comfort
The variety of different eartips and wings gives you the ability to mix and match your perfect fit. There are people who can't have those wings stuck in their ears, sensitive ears, so you can just put on those eartips and that's it! The diverse options got you covered.
I can say that after 2 hours of constant listening, at least for me, I feel a bit sour where the wings meet the ear - but it isn't major.
Performance - Music
These headphones aren't the best out there, but they do the job. The highs are a bit harsh and the mids are good, bass is barely - so bass-heads look elsewhere.
All an all, decent sounding for their price.
Performance - Microphone
The microphone on these headphones does the job well, people hear me clearly on the other side - even when there is wind present.
That's it, it does what it should, and it does it well!
Battery Life
Battery life is the industry standard here - for the light wire connected buds design - just shy of 8 hours of continues listening at 70% volume. While this isn't something to write home about, the quick charge feature hits home - just 10 minutes of charging (from any 5V 1A charger, no DASH charger needed) gives you 5 hours of listening! That's over 60% of charge in just 10 minutes which is nothing short of amazing.
That feature alone is basically a life saver in cases you forgot to charge you headphones and about to leave the house in a hurry.
Added Features
These headphones are feature packed! And here are some of the features:
Magnetic earbuds - this is a cool feature - when the earbuds are not in use, you don't need to just let them hang around your neck, flying all over the place - you can just stick them together using magnets at the back of the earbuds themselves. That way, you don't need to worry they'll fall off your neck.
Pause and Play - magnetically attaching the earbuds pause the music and also disconnects and turn OFF the earbuds, breaking the magnetic attachment turns them ON and on Oneplus devices (5 and newer) also resume play (may not work on 3rd party media players).
FAQs
Can these headphones work once the battery is dead? Nope, no 3.5mm wired connection option - once they're dead you need to charge in order to use again.
Does it come with a carrying case, and if so - what does it include or can contain? YES! It's a soft magnetic clasp case that can contain the earbuds and the different addons, with a short .
How long does the battery last on bluetooth connection? It is rated at 8hrs of usage, although it may vary with bluetooth signal strength and volume level.
What is the charging input type? Standard USB-C.
How long does it take to fully charge from 0%? It's about 25 minutes to full charge which is very quick.
Do these headphones considered Bass heavy? By no means these are Bass heavy, if you want more Bass - look elsewhere.
Are they water / weather proof? NO! It should be weather resistant but I wouldn't put it to the test.
Bottom Line
So who is this for? Well, if you want to cut the cord from your smartphone without breaking the bank - this is a very good option to consider - with good sound quality, good comfort, great battery life, quick charge and compact design.
Who is it not for? If you're an audiophile or bass-head - look elsewhere, and if earbuds aren't your thing (in the comfort department).
All an all - as the title suggest - the Oneplus Wireless Bullets are the best of being average at all the right stuff.
